FrontPage is for people who want to make simple graphic websites. Its n.not professional at all... Dreamweaver is probably the best, i use it and it a great program.

Dreamweaver is the best.

Not only does it have the most functionality, but you can add to it pretty easily.

FrontPage has two problems.  First, it creates pretty crappy code.  Second, Microsoft no longer supports it.  It is essentially dead.  I forgot what the replacement is.

XSitePro is a really dumbed down site editor targeted toward 'internet marketers'.  That means it is just a series of templates.

If you are serious about creating a website, go with Dreamweaver.  If you want to have a website up and running tonight, use an on-line builder.

I wouldn't touch Frontpage or XSitePro at all.

None of those make good code for a web page.  Dreamweaver is too expensite to keep updated to the latest web standards and I hope you care about coding to HTML 4.01 and CSS2 standards.

If you need to use a WYSIWYG, try NVU ( http://nvudev.com/index.php ).  Google for other free editors.

I prefer to hand code my pages to standards and then validate them at the w3c.org's validators.

Stay away from  Front Page - if the site you're writing for doesn't run FPE (Front Page Extensions), the page won't work.

Dreamweaver (or the free copy, NVU) are good if you already know at least some html and css.

XSitePro is pretty much a box of cake mix.  You can make the cake the mix was made to make, but you can't make a white cake with a chocolate cake mix.  If you like their sites, fine, but if you want one that doesn't look like theirs, use DW or NVU.  (Or Notepad, if you know what you're doing.  A web page is just a text file with a particular format.)
