Everything is fine. I also have a copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver. Although if I were you I'd add some color or some media. It will just look bland and blank.

Not much showing up...just what you typed

hello and welcome to stealth photography.

Means the end of your main page

Just play with it...switch from HTML to normal and preview and preview in browser...it will come in time.

Cheers

There's something missing in your structure. Well, a few things. Here we go...

1) The tag is really intended as a "wrapper" for other tags, just as the is a wrapper for and , and is a wrapper for various meta tags and the title.

Typically the body tag will have, inside it, some paragraphs, with the paragraph text being wrapped in opening and closing paragraph tags

something here

Interspersed amongst the paragraphs to organize things, you might have headings, everything from...

This is the biggest heading

...down to...

This is the smallest heading

Those headings are PARTICULARLY important because the search engine web crawlers (spiders) pay special attention to the words in the headers (along with your title) to determine the search results where your page will show up.

If you want people searching for "wombats" to find YOUR page, then you should have a few headings about wombats in there...

"All About Wombats"

An introductory paragraph about wombats.

The Feeding of a Wombat

A paragraph or three about the nutritional requirements of wombats.

The Night Life of a Wombat

A few highly entertaining paragraphs on the unusual breeding habits of wombats.

...and so on.

But don't OVERDO that either... that's called "keyword spamming" and will actually get you BANNED from the search engines.

2) The
tag does not belong in the section. In fact, as a rule of thumb, you don't want to put ANY directions that control the DISPLAY of your text in your HTML... these days, that belongs in the CSS (Cascading Style Sheet).

3) Make sure your code is XML and XHTML-compliant (there is a setting in Dreamweaver for this. One rule is that EVERY opening tag MUST have a closing tag... UNLESS it uses a special open/close syntax.

So, using a break
or any other HTML typically used "by itself" like the horizontal rule
is technically BAD code... the correct method would be...

OR

I'm actually in the process of launching a "mini-HTML" tutorial (complete with tips on search engine optimization) for a website where I'm encouraging the registered users to WRITE in HTML instead of using some fancy "visual" editor.

Some of it relates to using the Drupal content management system, but most will be HTML related, covering primarily the HTML parts that are allowed to be posted on our website (so, no JavaScript tutorials here, for example). Much of it WILL be useful for learning HTML though....
