Use Plenty Of White Space

.

Here is some website design advice every website designer should know.

When you are creating your website, remember that all available space is not required to be used. If you insist on making use of each pixel, your site may end up cluttered. When you space things out in an appropriate way and have a sense of organization, this will make users feel like they are in control. It can actually work to your benefit if you allow some space to be left uninhabited.

Stick with common fonts that look professional. They are common for a reason. People judge your sites professionalism by the fonts you use. Fancy fonts, such as those that look like gothic lettering or calligraphy, can often be hard to read. Other fonts, like Comic Sans, send a message that you aren’t professional. In case your user’s browser cannot display the font your website uses, a secondary font can be set. This often looks terrible.

Set up your website to store personal information that users might need to reenter multiple times. For instance, people may already register with your site, and you should have it set up to preserve their information if they choose so they don’t have to register again. Saving the user’s information in this way simplifies work for them, and is much appreciated by your website visitors.

There are many free programs available to help you develop your website. There is a pervasive myth that expensive programs do the job of web design better than the alternatives, but there is plenty of free software that does a great job. You simply must be willing to find these helpful design resources.

Any web designer who has recently started designing a website can benefit from a concept sketch. This can help you map out your site and develop a visual image of its structure and content. Using concept sketches is a great way to start the design process.

The links on your site must work, and it’s up to you to check them often! Good web design should always be easy to navigate, and free of error messages. Check your links at least once a month to ensure they work as they should.

Let people cancel any action they have started. An action can be classified as completing a form or registering to receive content, like a newsletter. Forcing your user to complete an action they don’t wish to will ensure they never sign up for anything on your site again, nor are they likely to return at all.

The previous website design advice  will help you design a fantastic site that is attractive and encourages your visitors to trust your brand. We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.
